No need to leave town for great birds.

I saw many interesting birds on my mid-April visit to California, but you don't need to leave town to see lots of great birds. They are all over the place this time of year.
For example, I saw a yellow-headed blackbird on my trip, the first I had seen since a long-ago journey to Montana. But once back home, I received a call from Jeri Sterling of Wimberley. She had seen a yellow-headed blackbird on the parking lot of the local Brookshire Brothers grocery store. “It was walking around over by the little picnic table,” she said. “It was a beautiful bird.”
