The bond election failed to pass by a wide margin with 74.8 percent of the vote against the bond.
If the $2.85 million bond had passed, the 4.3-cent debt service tax per $100 dollar valuation of property would have been the first municipal tax in the history of Wimberley. The city runs on sales tax allocations alone with a total budget in the $1 million range annually.
