The National Invasive Species Council defines invasive species as species that are “…nonnative (or alien) to the ecosystem under consideration and whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health.” Invasive species can be plants, animals, and other organisms (e.g., fungi). The biggest problem with these invasive species is that as they spread, they can dominate the native species, thereby displacing them and decreasing biodiversity.
