Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger relief charity, reports that more than 50 million Americans are food insecure. USDA defines food insecurity as being unable to easily and consistently access enough nutritious food to live a healthy life at some time throughout the year.  Feeding America’s 2012 Map the Meal Gap study revealed that 24,790 or almost 16 percent of Hays County residents struggle with not always knowing when they will have their next meal. Almost 9,000 of these people are children.
The Hays County Food Bank has been on the forefront of fighting food insecurity since 1984, and they invite you to become part of the team effort to make sure no one in Hays County ever has to go hungry.
