Texas Renegade, a band formed in 2000 by Andy Bertelsen and twin brothers Eli and Tyson Carver, all  former or current residents of Wimberley, have released their fifth CD, “Surviving the Flood,” their first since 2009’s “Bad Dreams and Other Things.” Bandmembers Justin Belz on rhythm guitar and Kyle Ortiz on drums form a tight rhythm section with Eli Carver’s bass showcased on many of the songs selected for the CD.
Longtime fans will appreciate the band’s ability to rock on roughly half of the 14 cuts included on “Surviving the Flood,” accentuated in part by the fine lead guitar work by guest musician Jeff Strahan.
Notable among these rockers are “The End,” “Unsigned,” and “Waiting on the Drugs.” Those same fans may have wanted more of the playful country side of Texas Renegade on this CD, but will find plenty to enjoy in “American Sin” and “18 Time Machine.”
