Texans lose in heartbreaking, last minute fashion

The Wimberley Texans went blow-for-blow with the Giddings Buffaloes on Friday night, but came up one play short of earning their first victory of the season. After taking a 31-27 lead on a 65-yard touchdown pass with under five minutes left to play, Buffaloe WR Jason James took a 60-yard pass of his own to the house to give Giddings a three-point advantage with less than two minutes left in the game. The visiting Texans were unable to respond on the following possession making the final score 34-31. The Texans rebounded after being shut out in their season opener and moved the ball quite well on offense, including a 24-3 run after allowing two quick Giddings TDs. Wimberley also did a commendable job on defense containing the speed and shiftyness the Buffaloes are known for, but ultimately the big gains and untimely turnovers cost the Texans their first victory of 2014.
