Wimberley very well may be the leader in the domestic use of unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly known as drones.
The use of drones has become a polarizing topic nationwide with concerns about privacy or police oppression. What most locals don’t realize is that the Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department and other local first responders have been using drones to help fight fires and search for missing people for years.
Gene Robinson runs RP Search Services, a Wimberley-based non-profit that provides UAV (unmanned aerial vehicles) assistance to local emergency personnel for free.

Overall, he is credited with 11 “finds,” which means he has found 11 missing people over the last 10 years or so.
