Laurel Frances Gold, 84, a longtime resident of Wimberley, born June 2, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, died Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Seton Hospital in Kyle, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Katharine Schneider of Boerne, Texas; husband Sunny Gold and her infant daughter.
Survivors include son Kenny Gold and his wife Dian of Wimberley; son John Gold of Rockport; son Tim Gold and his wife Lynette of Wimberley; son JoJo Gold and his wife Kathy of Wimberley. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Ryan Gold and wife Jennifer; Jackie Sanders and husband Michael; Krystal Ostermayer and husband Robert; Michelle Gold and husband Chris Johnson; Chad Gold and wife Jayme; Adrianne Marks and husband Donald; Katie Raska and husband Eric; and Todd Gold. She is further survived by thirteen great-grandchildren with another on the way; her brother Russell Schneider and wife Dorothy of George West; her sister in law Ann Allen and husband Frank and sister in law Susie Adams; numerous nieces, nephews; and longtime friends Pi and Gwen Coryell and family and Bob Caldwell and family.
Laurel was a pillar to the community with her many years of service. She helped lay the foundation for the Wimberley EMS as well as serving as an EMT and later a dispatcher. She was instrumental in establishing the Wimberley ISD and serving on the school board for fifteen plus years. Laurel founded and served on the Wimberley Gold-Santa Project and she spent her life being a mother to many and a friend to all. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations to the Laurel Gold Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 258, Wimberley, Texas, 78676.
