The future of The Square: The city will soon develop a Central Wimberley Master Plan

By DALTON SWEAT

Over the next six months, the guidelines will be placed that will govern the development on and around the square.
The city hired Design Workshop, Inc., which helped plan the Blue Hole Regional Park, to develop the Central Wimberley Master Plan.
“It’s such an integral part of our community from an economic standpoint and a tourism stand point,” City Administrator Doug Ferguson said. “The feeling is we need to treat it right and plan for the future to protect that character.”
The city does have a Comprehensive Master Plan, but Ferguson said that the downtown area needs more attention.
“With all of the discussion about future land use, transportation, drainage, ascetics, wastewater and other utility issues, the feeling was we needed to get our arms around that issue that and have a Master Plan that is specific to the Central Wimberley.”
