Wimberley observances to honor Memorial Day

One of the hundreds of area grave sites to be honored on Memorial Day weekend by Wimberley VFW members, assisted by Scouts from Troop 127, is that of Ronald Bryson Vann in Wimberley Cemetery. Vann, a 1st Lieutenant in Battery C of the 40th Artillery, was killed in action in Vietnam less than two weeks before his tour of duty was to end. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal. From Staff Reports

The Wimberley Valley will be remembering America’s war dead throughout Memorial Day weekend and on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, in formal and informal observances.
Members of the Wimberley VFW Post, along with local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from Troop and Pack 127, will place flags at the graves of more than 400 veterans in 11 area cemeteries beginning on Friday afternoon, May 23.  The flags will be removed by sundown on Memorial Day.  The veterans buried in these cemeteries represent every conflict since the Texas War for Independence in 1836.
