The recent rains have been a welcome change after years of drought, but even though the grass seems greener, there is still a long way left to go.
It seems that, just a short time ago when a few drops of rain fell, the joke was “What is this wet stuff falling from the sky,” as if we had all forgotten what rain was. It hadn’t rained in what seemed like months in the height of the drought through 2011 and 2012.
“People feel like we are starting to get back to normal, but talk to the people around the reservoirs across the state and they don’t feel back to normal,” National Weather Service Meteorologist Steve Smart said.
