Olga Mae Anne Sights Coston was born in Del Rio, on January 25, 1930. She passed away Monday morning, June 23, in San Marcos.
In 1947 she married Hugh Martin Coston and lived the next 52 years working on the ranch alongside her husband. She gave her family an eternity of love in her 84 years. She went into the arms of her Savior with joy, thanksgiving and great peace. She set an example of wisdom and unmatched kindness. Her life is proof that we need never stop learning and improving. She continued well into her eighties to grow closer to her Lord and, in turn, her friends and family.
She dies the mother of seven children, the grandmother of the great grandmother of 24, and a friend, counselor and advocate to countless others. She is survived by her five sons and two daughters; Marty in Austin, Jimmy in Caldwell, Bill and his wife Carolyn in Sinton, Wood and his wife Libby in Laredo, Scott and his wife Rhonda in Somerset, Julie and her husband Murray in Trinidad & Tobago, and Sara and her husband Wayman in Wimberley. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren are spread across the globe from Alaska to Mongolia.
She joins her husband, Hugh, in eternal life and asked a few days ago, “Reckon he’ll feel like dancing?” She loved to cook, fish and travel the world; never too old for a new adventure. She will be remembered for her hospitality and innate ability to make everyone feel welcome. She was a strong resilient woman and enjoyed everyday with great zest. She died with her hands and heart held by those who love and cherish her. She will be sorely missed and greatly rejoiced by all who knew her.
She enters into eternity with confidence; holy and blameless in the eyes of her Heavenly Father. He has completed a good work in her and her family and friends will say with joy that we knew her and were loved by her.
Visitation at the Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 26. Her funeral will be held at Cypress Creek Church in Wimberley at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, the 27 of June.
A short graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Uvalde Texas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you would like to give a gift in memory of Olga Coston please send donations to a charity of your choice or to women’s ministries at Cypress Creek Church.
