Norman Nathaniel Coulter

Norman Nathaniel Coulter was born July 2, 1930 in Ashley County, Arkansas to James Frank and Maybelle Rice Coulter, one of seven boys and two girls.  He was raised by his step-mother, Venna Oreta Camp Coulter.
He graduated High School in Gregory, went on to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Bus Administration.  He was an athlete at heart, participating in five sports and was called “Triple Threat.”  He played worldwide professional fast pitch softball for many years as a pitcher.
He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 in Korea as a Platoon Sergeant.  He was awarded many medals for bravery and was a Purple Heart recipient.
After returning from Korea, he married his wife, best friend, confidant and partner, Jeannine Gerdes on June 5, 1954.  They were blessed with three children: Mike, Mark and Jeff.  He is also proud PaPa to four: Brad, Jeanna, Samantha and Ashton.
He worked for Reynolds Metals Company for many years, became part owner of Arthur Brothers, Inc., and then formed his own company called CINCO Construction and Engineering Company in Kingsville.   
In 1982, he retired in Wimberley where he enjoyed playing golf and the Hill Country living.  He went back to work for Celanese Chem Co in Clear Lake in 1988.  He spent 10 years as Construction Manager and enjoyed that job more than any other.  He re-retired in Wimberley in 1998 and called that his home until he met his Creator.  
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 29 at the Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley.  Recitation of the Holy Rosary followed at 7 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wimberley.  Interment with military honors was held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, July 31 at the Sinton Cemetery, Sinton.  Thomason Funeral Home, (512) 847-2226.
