Big things come in small packages. Linda Chase and Judy Roberts have taken their love of sewing and quilting to the next level and opened Wimberley Stitch Studio, a one-room building on Ranch Road 2325. They have proven that passion can override square footage in business.
Chase and Roberts were both from the Rio Grande Valley and are an example of BFFs (best friends forever). Sewing was a common denominator.
“I made my first quilt when my 33 year-old was about to be born,” Chase recalled. “Quilting was sort of hit-and-miss while my babies grew up. But, I got really active over the last 10 or 15 years.”

True to his side-splitting film, “Young Frankenstein,” Mel Brooks has created a musical in its image, officially titled “The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein.” Those familiar with the movie will be satisfied with the play's loyalty to the film, as well as the added musical element, bringing Dr. “Fronkensteen” to his full potential.
The Wimberley Players recently opened with their run of the musical, and it's a high energy romp.
Grandson of Victor von Frankenstein, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein disowns his family “business” of mad-scientist experimentation of bringing the dead back to life.

Keep Wimberley Beautiful

Fall is officially here and now the days are shorter than the nights.  Many plants respond to the shorter days.  The green berries of the American beautyberry (Callicarpa americana L.)  have turned a beautiful incandescent purple.  American beautyberry is also commonly known as French mulberry.  It is in the verbena family and grows to a shrub three to five feet tall and about as wide.
My American beautyberry is in the shade and protected from the deer by a fence.  Deer like it, although I have seen the bright magenta fruits on plants along Cypress Creek where I know deer freely roam and some friends report the deer do not bother their plants.  All of the American beautyberries I have ever noticed are growing in the shade as an understory plant.  Eventually the berries will become food for the birds.

Neighbors helping neighbors, especially when the help is needed. That is the Wimberley Way. Volunteering to help your neighbors who are in need is the mission of Crisis Bread Basket. It is a pity that America, called the breadbasket of the world for many generations has people going to bed hungry. According to the website, Hunger in America, this exists for over 50 million people. That is 1 in 6 of the U.S. population – including more than 1 in 5 children not getting the proper nourishment on a daily basis.

WAG Rescue: Fundraising to save lives

In Wimberley, when animals need help, they often end up with the Wimberley Adoption Group.
That’s what happened to Minnie, a dog that was rescued in an extremely emaciated state.
She was full of parasites and had serious infections in both eyes. It was a congenital condition where her eyelids rolled inward causing a great deal of irritation, which resulted in the chronic eye infections.
WAG brought her in, and she had an operation to reconstruct her eyelids.
“It took much longer to build up her strength and for her to gain the much needed weight and muscle mass,” Pat Davis, with WAG Rescue said. “She was always a sweet dog despite her misery, but once her health was restored, her personality really blossomed.”
