Electro Purification is working towards a test of the wells to continue moving forward with the project under the new rules set for by House Bill 3405.

According to the Barton Springs Edward Aquifer Conservation District, EP has submitted an application to test three of the six wells on the property for about five days each.

“The overall test will be conducted at a rate to support a future production volume of 2.5 million gallons per day,” a press release from BSEACD said.

The test will provide data to determine the impacts of the wells on the aquifer.

New measures against sewer system discharge

The Wimberley City Council elected to continue looking into different options for the wastewater treatment facility largely centered around trying to limit or remove the possibility of effluent discharge into the Deer Creek.

In the process of vetting options, the council elected to write a letter to Aqua Texas asking for price estimates for the city to potentially send excess effluent  or raw sewage to the wastewater provider instead of discharging it.

The proposal was met with opposition from Councilmember Bob Dussler, who said he is against engaging with Aqua Texas for anything.

Bingo for families of Dallas officers

Friday night VFW bingo player Amanda Ogletree of Wimberley signals that she has filled in the right numbers for “bingo.”  Proceeds from the night’s games are to be donated to a fund for five slain Dallas police officers.

A near-record crowd at last Friday’s VFW Bingo night in Wimberley raised nearly $2,000 for the families of the five Dallas police officers killed by a gunman on July 7.

The 180 bingo players at Friday’s games tied as the third largest crowd at the bingo games held every Friday at Wimberley’s VFW Post 6441 according to Post Commander Don Wheeler.

“We are extremely gratified that Wimberley turned out in such numbers for this cause, “ Wheeler said.  “The bingo proceeds amounted to $1,950 with $221 in donations.  That came to a little over $2,170, and the post added money to make the total $2,200.”
