The Katherine Anne Porter School spent Friday helping clean up Wimberley as part of their annual day of service. At the Wimberley Library, students showed up to move rocks, replant trees and shrubs and clean up in general. Over at Jacobs Well, the natural area had its landscaping worked on before the students moved on to the community garden.
A dramatic new piece of local art is taking shape in front of Hotel Flora and Fauna, a 12- room boutique-style hotel soon to be completed at 400 River Road.
Five months ago, Juanita Vasquez, 58, of San Marcos, died in a head-on collision on Ranch Road 12 near Hugo Road. A few hundred yards up the road, three people, including an 11-year-old boy, were sent to the hospital after a similar, serious accident last month. In both incidents, one vehicle crossed the center strip and struck another.
