Keep Wimberley Beautiful

Submitted by Jackie Mattice

The oak trees are blooming!  What?  I didn’t see any flowers on the oak tree, do they bloom?  Oh yes, those long tassels visible now are part of the  flowers.  The pollen (think male) is most noticeable on the tassels, and the female flower parts, closer to the branch, will receive the pollen and form an acorn.

Cody Bryan at Blue Hole

By Candice Brusuelas
Daily Record Features

Cody Bryan is your typical Austinite with a love of his city and music scene, and disgust for the traffic. Born in San Antonio, Bryan is on his second year playing as the Cody Bryan Band with his good friends. Before then, they played as a rock band named Aimless Gun.
“We ended up deciding to embrace more of our country roots. It’s the same guys I’m playing with, and we changed the name and started fresh,” he said.

New books at library, still looking for more

Friends of Wimberley Village Library had our best ever book sale this past October and that's due to our community's generosity with their no longer needed books. However, donations have been slow since our last sale.  There’s plenty of time yet, and no reason to panic, but we would like to ask for the help of our community.  We need donations of both hardback and paperback books of every kind, on any subject, as well as CD’s and DVD’s.  We need them now because our volunteers need time to screen and sort the donations, to have them ready for October’s sale.
