Beverly Jane McGar

Beverly Jane McGar, age 82, died peacefully at home in Wimberley, surrounded by her loving family on February 9, 2016. Jane was born March 22, 1933 in Ft Worth, Texas to mother Letha Bayliss and father Jesse Cockerell.

Jane is survived by Bob McGar, her high school sweetheart and husband of nearly 65 years. They spent the first years of their marriage at Texas A&M and then the next 20 years as a military family, crisscrossing the globe and enduring long deployments. They retired and settled in Wimberley in 1975. Jane became a cherished member of the Wimberley School system where she contributed in many ways from founding the Wimberley Elementary School library to becoming the first registrar of the Wimberley High School in 1987.

Leslie Odell (L.O.) Jackson age 94, May 19, 1921 to January 31, 2016; The viewing is at 12:00 p.m.  February 4, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Dripping Springs, with the service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. Burial in Liberty Hill, Texas.

Leslie L. Crane, 70, of Wimberley, TX passed away Saturday, January 30th in Kyle, TX.  A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8th at Memory Lane, 403 K C Memory Lane, Dripping Springs, TX  78620.

Dody Spencer

Dody Spencer, 92, died peacefully on December 23rd, while in Hospice care in Austin, Texas.

Gloria (Dody) Burgher Spencer, the youngest of four children, was born in Dallas, Texas on November 11, 1923 to Walter Lenoir Burgher and Will Mae Stewart Burgher. 

Before permanently moving to Wimberley, Dody was an active member of the Dallas Women’s Club, the Dallas Garden Club, and the Junior League.  She was also involved in the planning of the restaurant at the Dallas Museum as well as the creation of Old City Park.  She had many fond memories of working at the Sample House.

Robert E. Saunders, Sr.

Robert Edward Saunders “Bob” was born August 18, 1922 in San Antonio, Texas to Thomas J. Saunders and Mattie Ellen Saunders. Bob grew up in San Antonio and his family had a summer home in Wimberley, Texas. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Bob was attending A&M University in College Station, Texas when World War II broke out. He left school to join the Navy and spent 2.5 years serving during the war. When he returned from the war he started ranching in Wimberley with his dad while he attended Texas State University in San Marcos. He graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas State. In 1950, he married Lavelle Montague from Wimberley and has been by her side for over 65 years. The same year, he was elected County Commissioner for Hays County and served for 19 years, unopposed.

Michael Keith Haffelfinger

Michael Keith Haffelfinger was born to Cecil Haffelfinger and Kathryn McGee Haffelfinger on February 22, 1957 in Baytown, Texas. Michael grew up in a preacher’s home. His dad served as a Church of Christ evangelist for sixty-two years. At the age of twelve Michael was baptized into Christ by his father in Victoria, Texas. Michael attended public school in Huntsville and Victoria graduating from LaMarque High School in 1975. 

He attended Galveston County College in Texas City. Michael was an accomplished welder until health issues prevented him from doing this work. For over thirty-five years he courageously battled a muscle deteriorating disease that eventually left him completely disabled.

James Porter Jackson

James Porter Jackson, lovingly supported by family and friends at his bedside, passed peacefully from this world to the next on his spiritual journey.  He lived life to the fullest until three months ago when he suffered a stroke, developed complications and died on the 30th of October 2015.

Pamela Joy Kasper

Pamela Joy Kasper’s work here on Earth is complete. She received the sort of offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. The assignment includes endless joy, a reunion with her Lord and Creator, the Savior of her soul, along with family, friends and a son she has not seen in a long time. Pamela left suddenly for her new appointment from her home on October 30, 2015 in Wimberley, Texas. She was 59.

Pamela was born on September 14, 1956 in Houston, Texas, to her parents, Paul Adolf Lipinsky and Lucille Lipinsky. She graduated from Lee High School in Houston. The Kaspers lived and raised their three children in Wimberley, Texas where the family still resides.

Stephen “Steve” Wisecarve

Stephen “Steve” Wisecarver died October 7, 2015 from injuries sustained in a fall. He was 66. 

Steve was born June 30, 1949 in Washington, D.C. to his parents Kenneth and Billie Fay Wisecarver. He graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX with a B.S. in Psychology in May 1992 and earned a Masters of Education in December 1994. Steve was a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology and worked in the New Braunfels School District. He was married to Mary Zeravica for 39 years.

Raymond Thomas Worrell

Raymond Thomas Worrell, born June 14, 1943, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, October 3, 2015.  He is survived by his wife Jeanne Ann, three sons, one daughter and 9 grandchildren.  He was a deacon and active member of First Baptist Church in Wimberley, Texas. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
