Patricia ‘Pat’ Lewis Aaron

Patricia “Pat” Lewis Aaron passed away on April 14, 2016 in Wimberley, TX.  She was born on June 26, 1936 in Llano, Tx and spent her childhood in Thrall, TX.  

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, April 30, 2016 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wimberley, with Rector Sandy Casey-Martus officiating.  Celebration of Life reception to follow in the parish hall.

Pat is survived by her daughters Toni Speights (Joel) of Houston, TX; Laura Liggett of Wimberley, TX; Lyla McClain (Ronnie) of Paris, MS; and a sister, Sharron Kolbus of Hutto, TX.  She also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Elisha Liggett Fawkes, Savannah Speights and Shelby McClain; and one great grandson, Axel Fawkes.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harvey L. Aaron, and her parents Murray Lewis and Frieda Stauffer Lewis.

Betty Dorene Lukes Stephens

Services for Betty Dorene Lukes Stephens age 80 of Tennessee Colony will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Dr. Rick Dees officiating. Burial will follow in Tennessee Colony Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. 

Mrs. Stephens died Friday at her residence. She was born April 16, 1936 in Woodward, OK. to Henry Everett Lukes and Goldie Tune Lukes. Mrs. Stephens was a homemaker and a member of the Westwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Stephens was a happy religious person with lots of friends.

Richard Wynn Cabler Sr

Richard Wynn Cabler, 79, fondly known as Dick, left this life after a courageous battle with cancer on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016.   Dick was a fifth generation Texan. 

Dick was born in Fort Worth, TX to Roy William Cabler Sr and Marie Cassandra Durham Cabler. 

Dick spent the majority of his life in the plumbing industry, starting his own plumbing repair company, Cabler Plumbing Company in 1968. 

In 1986, Dick became reacquainted with his high school sweetheart, Janet Culver. They were married six years later, in Wimberley. 

After residing in Houston, Wimberley, and Ruidoso, NM, they retired in New Braunfels in 2006.

Colonel Leonard M. Pederson

Colonel Leonard M. Pederson, U.S. Army Retired, Age 96, died 4-11-16 at 10:37 pm.

He was born to George and Wilhelmina Pederson at Browerville, Minnesota where he graduated from high school in 1936 as Valedictorian. He later received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and attended several military schools.

Joe H Jones

Joe H Jones, 86 of Wimberley, TX passed away on Monday April 14th.  Joe was born in Gotebo, OK on August 18, 1929 to Claude and Mattie (Baskett) Jones.  Mr Jones is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jeannette “Jay” Jones of Wimberley.  3 Sons Joe D Jones of Wichita, KS,. Timothy Jones and wife, Kim of Wichita, KS., Michael Jones and wife, Janie of Lakeway, TX., and one daughter, Janet Ternes and husband, Stan of Wichita, KS., 3 brothers, Roy Jones of Clinton, OK., Elmer Jones and wife, Wanda of Wichita Falls, TX., Leonard Jones and wife, Peggy of Clinton, OK.  1 Sister, Juanita Eeds and husband, Baker of Clinton, OK.; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by sister, Opal Warnick and her husband, Bill; and sister-in-law, Betty Jones.

Sally (Church) Officer

Sally (Church) Officer passed away peacefully in Austin, TX on Friday, April 15, 2016.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 29, 1927, Sally was the oldest daughter of Bernice Millar and John Wheeler Church, Sr.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Herbert George Officer, Jr., her son, Herbert George Officer III and brother, John W. Church, Jr.  She is survived by her sister, Barbara Church Hofmann of West Chester, Pennsylvania, daughter Nancy Anne and husband, Steven Keith Davis, of Bozeman, Montana, son, Keith Church Officer and wife, Carol Fyall, of Lake Forest Park, Washington, and daughter, Barbara Elizabeth Roeling and partner Charles Fielding Staley, of Austin, Texas., as well as 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

Norman Maurice Whisenant

Norman Maurice Whisenant was born on May 12,1922, in Driftwood, Texas.  He was one of 11 children, born to Richard and Vesta Whisenant. He spent his youth in the Rio Grande Valley, where his family farmed for a

living. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII, and served as an air

traffic controller. After WWII, he enrolled in Southwest Texas State

College, where he received his BS in Education and his MA in Educational

Administration. During his time in college he met and married Flora Jane

Deal. They both pursued careers in the field of education which they had

a passion for. He taught in Beeville, San Antonio, Austin and New

Braunfels as a teacher, an assistant principal, a principal, a curriculum

director, and for many years Superintendent of Schools for Comal

Rebecca Forrester Knight

Rebecca Emelie Forrester Knight, 75, a resident of Driftwood, died peacefully in her sleep on April 8, 2016, following a neurological illness.  Becky was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on August 11, 1940, to Lewis Kilbourne Forrester and Rebecca Virginia Atkinson. She graduated from Shreveport Byrd High School in 1958 where she was a member of the Pep Squad (Drum Corps) and an ROTC Sponsor. She also attended Camp Fern regularly, where she was a counselor. 

In December, 1959, she made her debut with the Demoiselle Club of Shreveport, and was a maid at the Holiday in Dixie Cotillion Court in the Spring, 1961. She attended Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and graduated with a B.A. degree in education in 1962.
