David Allen Gwynn

David Allen Gwynn, 56, passed away on March 25, 2016 at his home in New Braunfels, Texas. He was born on June 22, 1959 in Madrid, Spain to Robert Warren Gwynn and Joyce Elinor (Ring) Gwynn.

David grew up in Wimberley, Texas. He graduated from Jack C. Hays High School in Buda, Texas in 1977. David was a central Texas realtor with Texas Dream Realtors LLC where he specialized in commercial development, hill country homes and unique waterfront properties.

David was an automobile enthusiast and had a unique talent for turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was an accomplished aerial photographer.  He received top real estate producer status in his role as a realtor.

Wayne Crawford

Wayne Crawford was born March 24, 1931 to Darroll Franklin Crawford, Sr. and Mona Anderson in Navasota, Texas.  He grew up in Navasota, and worked on a dairy farm in his early years, later working in retail stores.  He graduated from Navasota High School in 1948.  He entered Howard Payne College in Brownwood in the Fall of 1948, and attended until January 1951.  Wayne enlisted in the US Air Force at that time, and served for four years during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He then went to The University of Texas in Austin and graduated in May 1957 with a BBA. 

For a time, he and his mother owned a clothing store in Navasota, and he later worked for the Texas Employment Commission, from which he later retired.

John Robert Shirley

John Robert Shirley, 57, of Flippin died Saturday March 19, 2016, at his home.

Shirley was born August 25th, 1958, in San Marcos, Texas, to James and Marie (Smith) Shirley. Automotive mechanic, he lived in the area for 33 years. He enjoyed his family and his granddaughter. His hobbies were guns and cars.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of Flippin; two daughters, Danielle Shirley of Flippin and Silvia Shirley of Summit; one granddaughter, Adelyn Wenneberg; his mother, Marie Smith of Driftwood, Texas; two sisters, Maggie Mills and Georgeanne Shirley both of Wimberley, Texas, and two brothers, George Shirley of Wimberley, Texas, and William Shirley of Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father James Shirley, and one sister, Elizabeth.

William (Bill) Rivers Mowen

William (Bill) Rivers Mowen, age 82, entered the nearer presence of his Lord

Friday, March 25, 2016, in San Antonio.  He was born January 26, 1934 in Franklin, Pennsylvania.  His parents, Charles and Mildred; brothers, Charles and Jerry; wives, Leonda and Irene, predeceased him.

A watchmaker and jeweler by trade, Bill was an active member of his communities in Port Lavaca and Wimberly.  He was a 60-year member and past master of the Masonic Lodge in Port Lavaca and a dual member of Wimberly Lodge.   He was baptized and confirmed in Grace Episcopal Church, Port Lavaca.  He was active in Boy Scouts as well, serving in leadership positions for more than 45 years.  He received the Silver Beaver award in 2000.

Mary Anne McGee

Mary Anne McGee, 90, long time Wimberley resident, died at her residence on March 22, 2016.  She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to Hilton A. McGee and Mary Carlisle McGee on June 5, 1925, and resided there until she received her bachelor’s degree from Howard College in 1945.  After a long career as an underwriter for Prudential Insurance, Mary Anne retired to Wimberley in 1981.

Wayne Crawford

Wayne Crawford, 85, passed away Easter morning, March 27, 2016 at Seton Hospital in Kyle, Texas. Funeral services will be held at The Chapel in the Hills, located at 14601 RR12, Wimberley, Texas 78676, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens, P.O. Box 801, Wimberley, Texas 78676.

Kevin Shea Calhoun

Kevin Shea Calhoun, 30 of Dripping Springs, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 24th at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will be on Friday, March 25th at Crofts – Crow Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in Mt. Sharp Cemetery near Wimberley, Texas. 

Kevin was born on February 25, 1986 in Austin, Texas to Roy Gene and Jackie Ann (West) Calhoun. He was a graduate of Johnson City High School and attended Universal Technical Institute of Texas in Houston, Texas. He was a young man of many talents, a jack of all trades but his love was working on vehicles both diesel and gasoline engines. Kevin lived life with a smile and a big heart. He was always there to help his family and friends.

Phyllis Joan Lattomus Bynum

Phyllis Joan Lattomus Bynum passed away Monday March 21st at the age of 89 in Wimberley Texas following a brief battle with Alzheimer disease.

She was born to Rolland and Mildred Hindsley in Union City Indiana, on August 26, 1926. She was born as the second youngest of a large family with 6 siblings.

She was know as Jo to many friends and Nanny to her grandchildren. Jo married young at the age of 17 to Ray Snyder and bore two daughters, Suzanne and Gaylene. In 1957 Jo was divorced and remarried to Lawrence Lattomus to which she bore two children Michael and Yvonne. Some time after Lawrence passed away Jo met and married Dave Bynum whom she lived out her retirement with.
