Bill B. Cobb

Bill B. Cobb, 90, of Wimberley, TX passed from this earth on Saturday, October 18, 2014.  Bill was born in Waco, TX on January 2, 1924 and he grew up in the little town of West, TX and then lived in Waco where he graduated from high school.  He enrolled at the University of Texas, then WWII called.  In 1943, Bill joined the Army OCS and was then assigned as a 2nd Lt. Bombardier/Navigator in the 15th Army Air Corps 454th Bomb Group flying the B-24 Liberator.  On his very first mission, Lt. Cobb’s plane was shot down by enemy flak and crash landed in the Romanian forest.  Lt. Cobb and two other enlisted men were the only survivors as Lt. Cobb led his men through German held territory until they were rescued.  Cobb went on to fly 24 more missions including raids on the Ploesti refineries.

Norma Jean Holt

Norma Jean Holt, a resident of Wimberley, passed away October 6, 2014 at the age of 81.  The family will receive friends October 9 at 10:00 a.m. with a service following at 11:00.  Both visitation and funeral service will be held at Wimberley United Methodist Church.  Interment will be held Saturday, October 11 at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, OK.  For more information, call Thomason Funeral Home, 512-847-2226.

Marian Allen Greenwell

Marian Allen Greenwell passed away at her home in Wimberley, TX on Sunday, September 21st, surrounded by her loving children.  She was born March 22, 1924 near Owensboro, KY to Jesse Lee Allen and his wife, Stella. She attended St. Frances Academy for 12 years. Marian earned her BA in Applied Music from Spalding University in Louisville, KY. She taught English composition at Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio, TX.  In 1947, Marian married William Joseph Greenwell. She is survived by four sons, Stephen, Smoky, Michael and Chris and 3 daughters, Beth, Anne and Laurie. She is survived by their spouses Evelyn, Nawassa, Grace, Ray, Jim and Buff; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  Marian was a lifelong student. In later years, she taught Jungian psychology for the Jung Society in Austin, TX as well as classes for Wimberley groups.

Karl-Heinz J. Krenz

Karl-Heinz J. Krenz, 65, of Wimberley, TX passed away at his home on Friday, September 19th.  Karl was born in West Berlin, Germany on August 28, 1949 to Karl and Ursula Krenz.  His family arrived in the U.S. at Ellis Island on July 4, 1959 and settled in Fredericksburg, TX.  Mr. Krenz served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.  He graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos and enjoyed a career in management in the industries of oil and gas and the manufacturing of medical devices.  He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Billy J. Krenz; daughter, Diane White and her husband, Doug of Midland, MI; daughter, Pamela Anderson and her husband, Elvis of Houston, TX; daughter, Jamie Gupta and her husband, Vineet of Watertown, MN; brother, Wolfgang Krenz of Wimberley, TX and seven grandchildren.

Laurel Frances Gold, 84, a longtime resident of Wimberley, born June 2, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, died Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Seton Hospital in Kyle, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Katharine Schneider of Boerne, Texas; husband Sunny Gold and her infant daughter.

Dorothy Rae Persohn

Dorothy Rae (Dot) Persohn died peacefully at home on August 22, 2014.  Dot was born in Houston, Texas January 3, 1922, to Leonard and Mary Roco. 
Dot graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, and then entered Texas State College for Women ( now TWU ) in Denton.  Here she completed a degree in Education.  During her college years she met and dated John who was attending Texas A&M.  Together they had many happy weekends attending college football games and dances.

William Royce Jackson

Bill Jackson, 63, of Wimberley, Texas passed away on August 20, 2014. He was born February 24, 1951 in Palacios, Texas to Bill and Grace Jackson. He attended Palacios High School, and continued his education at Texas State University, graduating in 1974 with a degree in psychology. 
He enjoyed fishing, reading, and time with friends and family. He is best remembered for his humor and his ability to be the life of the party. 
Bill is survived by his two sons Justin and Danny Jackson, daughter-in-law Janet, and granddaughter Ruby. Bill is also survived by brothers Clark, Robert, and John as well as sisters Mary and Sharilyn. 
The service were at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos on Tuesday August 26th at 11:00 am.

Major Paul E. Porter

Major Paul E. Porter died August 13, 2014 in New Braunfels, TX.  Paul was born March 22, 1923 in Emporia, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Anna Laura Porter, his brothers, Leonard and Glenn Porter and his sister, Dorothy Peckerck. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Betty Flanagan Porter of New Braunfels, TX; son, Mark Porter of Austin, TX; step-son, Dr. John R. Flanagan and his wife, Karen of New Braunfels, TX; step-daughter, Judy Kinsman of Florence, OR; and niece, Paulette Murrey and her husband, John of Branson, MO; plus numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Paul enlisted in the Army Air Division December 31, 1943.  He retired June 12, 1962.  During his years of service, Paul flew B29 and B52 bombers and all other types of aircraft.

Mable (Miles) Lehman Sands Head, 96, of Austin, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2014. 
She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Caldwell County and was one of eight children born to the late F.P.Miles and Della Sullivan Miles.

Richard M. Fisher

Richard M. Fisher, 78, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2014 in Wimberley. 
Richard was energetic and enjoyed life to its fullest. Born Sept. 20, 1935 in New York City. He received his undergraduate degree at Principia College, Elsah, IL in 1957 and a master’s degree from the University of Texas in 1968. For 15 years he taught at the Kinkaid School in Houston. After moving to Sausalito, CA, he met and married Gisela Bigden-Fisher and worked for Apple computer for many years. He retired to Prescott Valley, AZ. After the death of his wife Richard relocated to Wimberley to be closer his sons and grandchildren.
Richard is predeceased by his wife Gisela, his sister Muriel and his brother Louis.
