The Lady Texans rebounded nicely after their eighth loss of the season to win their first district match of the year, defeating the Gonzales Apaches in straight sets.
Wimberley traveled to Dripping Springs on Tuesday to face one of the state’s top 4A squads. The Tigers are led by Michael Kane, brother of Wimberley head coach Thomas Kane. These two teams face off every season in what has become known as the “Kane Cup.”
The Lady Texans struck first in this match up, stealing the first game due in part to an up-tempo pace on offense and an unmatched defensive mentality. The Tigers would not go quietly; however, and rebounded to take the next three sets, despite the Lady Texans’ best effort. The scores were 20-25; 25-18; 25-20; 25-19.
