Lady Texan Track now District Champs!

For the first time in what is believed to be nearly two decades, the Lady Texan track team can claim to be district champions after unseating longtime champion Fredericksburg.
They pulled off the feat by nearly the narrowest margin of victory possible defeating Fredericksburg by 1.33 points. The Lady Texans finished with a score of 170.33.
Going into the 4x400-meter relay, the Texans had a 5.33 point lead. Fredericksburg was picked to finish first and Wimberley fourth.

Senior Weeks sets school record

A Wimberley High School record was set last week as Senior JJ Weeks struck out 16 batters from the mound for the Texans.  The pitching performance propelled the baseball team to victory over Canyon Lake 7-2.
The following game, another pitcher stepped up to win one for the Texans. Justin Grey took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before giving up the one and only hit of the game. The Texans (13-9, 7-3) won 1-0 over Canyon Lake to extend their winning streak to six games. 
The school record came from an unlikely place. This was Weeks first start as a pitcher for the Texans after missing all of last year with arm injuries.

Golf team heads to regionals

Lady Texans ‘Fight like a Girl’

Both JV and Varsity Lady Texan Softball Teams supported Breast Cancer Awareness night. The girls wore pink belts, pink hair ribbons and breast cancer tattoos.

District Champs headed to Regionals

The Texan Tennis team continued the squad’s tradition of excellence during by winning a District Championship. At the same time, the Tennis team, both boys and girls, will send five students on to Regionals.
While tennis has long been a successful sport for Wimberley High School, this District Championship was still unexpected to Head Coach Greg Garrison.
“I’m surprised the boys wound up winning district, honestly,” Garrison said. “We were one doubles team short compared to everyone else’s.”

Softball lights up scoreboard with homeruns

The Lady Texan Softball team is turning the 2014 season into a homerun derby.
In the last four games alone, the team has hit six homeruns to bring its season total to 10.
“We are swinging real big this year,” Head Coach Chris Farias. “It’s something we are proud of. We swing hard and we spend a lot of time working on our hitting.”

St. Stephen's aims for nationals as best elementary archery team in Texas

The St. Stephen's Episcopal School archery team was in the zone when they competed against 51 other schools in the Texas elementary division for the National Archery in the Schools Program earlier this month achieving an overall team score of 2889—a score that brought home the state championship trophy and automatically advanced the team to the NASP championship to be held in Louisville, Kentucky on May 9 and 10.  Today, the team received their trophy.

Baseball turning corner in district

As the middle of the district season has begun to turn for the Texan baseball team, so has their season.
Since going through a tough stretch of losses early in district play, the boys have won three of the last four games to bring their district record back above .500.

Soccer: Boys and girls make playoffs, seasons come to end

Both the Boys and Girls soccer teams made the playoffs this year, something that would not have been likely just a few years ago. The post season goal was a big one, even though both teams lost to Alamo Heights in the first round.
“We had a decade where making the playoffs never happened,” Girls Head Coach Brad Biggers said.
Now both teams have made the post season two years in a row.

Long places at Texas Relays while team places in meet

While the Lady Texan track team was busy placing second at the Canyon Lake Relays, senior Kally Long was busy in Austin. She was competing in the Texas Relays, the second largest track meet in the U.S., on the UT Campus.
Long qualified for the for the event and in the pole vault placed second behind the person who set the National High School record.
“Kally thrives for that competition,” Head Coach Lacey Jo Lambert said. “That’s where she does her best.”
