How does a person end up working in politics?
Without being inside the system, it’s difficult to know, but the first step in becoming one of the nation’s leaders may very well be Boys State and Girls State.
There were six juniors nominated from Wimberley High School at the end of last year, one of which made it all the way to nationals representing the state of Texas.
“The movers and shakers across the state are typically Boys State and Girls State delegates,” Wimberley High School Counselor Pamela Phillips, who coordinates the selection process in Wimberley, said. “It is a precursor to life in the big lane. The people who are lobbyists, politicians and state government are typically students who went through this. It’s a coveted honor.”
