Rita Camille Parker

Rita Camille Parker, 80, a long time resident of San Antonio, Texas, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on September the 12th, 2016 in Wimberley, Texas.   Camille, the name she preferred, was born in Wichita, Kansas on April 3, 1936 to Frances & Kenneth Robertson.  Camille was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Theron Parker, on April 4, 2014 and one great grandson, David Parker Salazar.   Camille is survived by her stepson, Rodger Theron Parker and wife Marilyn of Wimberley, Texas; step daughter Sharan Chapman and husband, Frank of Leander, Texas; step daughter Vicky Parker of Ft. Worth, Texas.  Together they enjoyed 12 grand children and 15 great grand children.

Eva Lee Cowan Murphy

Eva Lee was born 3 miles west of Wimberley on November 17, 1921 at the home of her parents Emmitt and Addie Cowan.  Eva Lee attended Wimberley Public schools and graduated as the class valedictorian in 1939.  She married Willard Doyle Murphy on December 31, 1939.  They had 2 children, Nettie Grace and Jessie Willard.  She worked many years for the Austin State Hospital in the accounting department.  She then came back to Wimberley to be near her parents and worked for San Marcos Telephone Company until she retired to care for her parents.  She then began sewing for the public in which she made many wedding, bridesmaid and prom dresses for the women of Wimberley.  She was a lifelong member of Wimberley Baptist Church.  Eva Lee is survived by her sister Yvonne Williams and husband Don of San Marcos.

Robert R. McCarley

Robert R. McCarley, 93, of Wimberley, TX left this earth Sunday, August 21, 2016 to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family.  He was born August 25, 1922 in Trenton, TX, north of Dallas, TX to Edgar L. McCarley and Mabel Fleming McCarley.  He graduated from Trenton High School.  Robert joined the Army Air Corps and served his country during WWII from 1942-1946.  After the service, Robert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from East Texas State University, Commerce, TX.  He began his teaching career in Kermit, TX.  He met and married Nancy Mitchell, also a teacher, on October 4, 1952.  Soon after, they moved to Port Lavaca, TX.  Later, he earned a Master’s degree in Education from East Texas State University.  He spent the next 32 years working for Calhoun County I.S.D.

Leon Mitchell ‘Mitch’ Hill

Leon Mitchell “Mitch” Hill passed away on August 17, 2016 at the age of 98.  He was born August 8, 1918 in Franklin County Arkansas.  He often bragged, he had a long and blessed life.  He died of natural causes.  He is survived by his spouse of 72 years, Estelle Maude (Albrecht) Hill and his four children, Michael Hill, Mark Hill, Tana Yowell, and Elizabeth Young.  He is survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  His father, Finis Ewing Hill, his mother, Monte Rae (Mitchell) Hill, and his sister, Mary Virginia Hendricks preceded him in death.

Roger Towns

Roger Towns passed away in his home on Monday, August 15, 2016.  He was born November 18, 1935 in Falfurrias, Texas.  He lived in Bruni and spent most of his childhood days in South Texas.  He earned a B.B.A. degree from the University of Texas, a Master’s Degree from Texas A & M in Kingsville, and a Doctorate of Philosophy from Texas A & M in College Station.  His careers included an Elementary Principal, Classroom teacher, College Professor and later a State Farm Insurance Agent.  

Roger loved to hunt, fish, bird watch and read extensively.  He loved to travel and meet new people and never lost his sense of adventure.  He was known as “Boompa” and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on August 17th at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Wimberley, TX with Rev. Sandy Casey-Martus officiating.   Burial will be at a later date in Anna, TX.

Mary Frances Hatfield

Mary, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, at the age of 88, at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas.  A longtime resident of Wimberley, Texas, she was born May 27, 1928 near Kingston, Oklahoma and had previously lived in Borger, Orange and San Marcos, Texas.
